Ngongtan Mask TR149

A traditional Fang ngongtang helmet mask from Equatorial Guinea. Now considered rare, these were common in the 1920s and 30s. With its multiple faces, the ngongtang was used in rituals to seek out sorcerers — who were believed to have several pairs of eyes, as beings of the spirit world.

A rare, commanding multi-faced piece with real history.
