The Maltese cross, long associated with the Knights of St John, is struck in clean relief on each button of this set. Every button goes through more than a dozen stages of making and inspection, and the design is one of the long-standing classics of the Benson & Clegg range. Made from gilding metal, the traditional alloy for military and blazer buttons, it is finished in gold plate. Large buttons measure 2.0cm and small cuff buttons 1.5cm. Single breasted sets contain three large and eight small buttons; double breasted sets contain six large and eight small. It gives a navy blazer a quietly historic character.
