Brush it over a light primer and a flat grey model turns into something with real depth in minutes.

• Black cloth, leather, hair and fur where a full black would flatten the sculpt
• Speed-painting squads and rank-and-file over a white or pale primer
• One-pass shading when there's no time for a proper wash-and-highlight cycle
