Product Description

Product Description

AHA Natural Fruit Extract is a concentrated blend of botanical extracts with naturally occurring Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs). This clear to pale liquid is made from blueberries, sugarcane, oranges, lemons, and sugar maple using a water extraction.

The blend gives formulators a plant-based source of AHAs to enhance smoothness and radiance in skincare products. Unlike synthetic alternatives, this extract is made without alcohol, preserving the actives and minimal scent for a pleasant formulation experience.

The extract is further refined through vacuum distillation to increase potency while reducing colour and scent. AHA Natural Fruit Extract is perfect for daily skincare formulations and intensive treatments to improve skin texture.

For creams, lotions, gels and face masks, this ingredient has gentle exfoliating properties that work with other nourishing ingredients.

Concentrated Botanical Power

Each extract contributes its alpha hydroxy acid, resulting in a combination of lactic, glycolic, citric, malic and tartaric acids for great cosmetic performance.

AHA Natural Fruit Extract contains the following concentrations of alpha hydroxy acids:
  • Lactic Acid (28-32%) which is a highly effective moisturiser.
  • Glycolic Acid (12-17%) which gives immediate skin softening.
  • Citric Acid (2-6%) which stimulates collagen synthesis.
  • Malic Acid (1% max) which boosts skin elasticity.
  • Tartaric Acid (1% max) which also boosts skin elasticity.

Minimal Sediment, Maximum Quality

There may be some sedimentation if the bottle has been standing for a while. This is to be expected with a natural product and does not affect the quality. A gentle shake will restore its consistency. The product may also change if exposed to the cold. Again, this does no damage, just bring it gently to room temperature.

How to use it

How to Use

Skin Care

  • Regular use of AHA Natural Fruit Extract can improve moisturisation levels in the skin and give a softer, smoother, and brighter complexion. Use the higher percentage in weekly masks or the lower percentage in daily products such as cleansers and toners.
  • The peeling effect of AHA Natural Fruit Extract allows active materials to penetrate the skin more effectively, making it a good choice in pre-conditioning facial treatments. Actives and skin nutrition, such as vegetable oils, will be absorbed better and will penetrate the fresher skin and not the dead skin cells.
  • The combination of acids in AHA Natural Fruit Extract can freshen the skin and help reduce the appearance of wrinkles. A very desirable ingredient in products for dry skin, mature skin and anti-ageing water-based serums.
  • Excellent to use in acne-prone skin products,

Hair Care

  • Excellent to use in exfoliating shampoos and clarifying hair conditioners. It works well in hair masks to clear the buildup of other products on the scalp.

Usage Guidelines

  • Use at 1-2% for daily products and between 5-10% for more intensive, specific treatments.
  • Water-soluble, so cannot be used in oil only products.
  • It is not heat stable, so should be used in Stage 3 (cool stage) when making creams and lotions. We recommend storing it in the fridge when it is not in use.
  • The pH is between 4-5. Check your finished pH to ensure it is skin compatible.

It is usually best to combine AHA Natural Fruit Extract with other ingredients that are calming and soothing to the skin. However, if it is to be used in a rinse off product like a face mask, it may not be worthwhile to combine with other materials that are more beneficial when left on the skin.

Cautions/Contraindications

Remember that adding higher amounts of an acid material may make a cream or lotion runnier.

Do not use in combination with exfoliating scrubs in the same product, as that may be too aggressive for the skin.

FAQ's

FAQ

Is AHA Natural Fruit Extract suitable for sensitive skin formulations?

Use it at lower concentrations for more sensitive formulations. Always patch test and adjust the pH of the final product for skin compatibility.

Can I use AHA Natural Fruit Extract in anhydrous (oil-only) products?
No, it’s water-soluble and needs a water phase or emulsion to incorporate properly.

How do I adjust the pH after adding AHA Natural Fruit Extract?
After adding to your formula, test the pH. If necessary, adjust with small amounts of sodium hydroxide or citric acid to maintain a skin-compatible pH between 4.5–5.5.

What if my AHA Natural Fruit Extract looks cloudy?
Cloudiness can occur when stored in cold conditions. This doesn’t affect performance; let it warm to room temperature and shake gently.

Can I use it in both rinse-off and leave-on products?
Yes! Lower concentrations are better for leave-on products, higher concentrations for rinse-off treatments like masks.
