Size 2 is the comfortable middle of the round range — enough belly to keep a wet edge while layering, still fine enough at the tip to place a highlight exactly where you want it. It's the brush that takes over once the fiddly detail work is done and you need to cover ground a bit faster.

Best for

• Layering highlights across armour panels and weapons
• Small-area basecoating — helmets, packs, shields
• General detail work when a size 0 feels too slow

It's the size most painters actually reach for most sessions, once the eyes and edges are already done and it's time to build up the rest of the model.
