Château Moncontour was built during the 15th century, by King Charles VII, in the heart of Vouvray, high on a ridge above the Loire. The winery is dug into the hillside and was established in the fourth century, making it one of the oldest in the Loire Valley. Christian Feray bought the Château in 1994 having coveted it since childhood. He has since moved Château Moncontour to the forefront of the Vouvray renaissance, aided by his winemaker Jérôme Loisy who has made the Château’s wines for over 25 years. These are thoroughly modern expressions which are fresh, racy and defined by ripe orchard fruit.

Château Moncontour comprises 130 hectares of vineyards. The Vouvray Sec is sourced from a unique parcel of Chenin Blanc in the village of Rochecorbon, just west of Vouvray. Regular lees stirring and malolactic fermentation occur in oak barrels, creating a rich, rounded palate. The Vouvray Brut is a vibrant sparkling made using the traditional method, with secondary fermentation in the bottle. It is aged for 12 months on its lees before disgorgement, resulting in a refined expression defined by vibrant fruit and refreshing acidity.
